Add an Intervention
The following instructions is part of
a larger process for logging and addressing student concerns, as defined
by the Continuum of Proactive
Student Supports (CPSS) for Early Intervention and Prevention. For background, please see Using
the Concerns Tab.
Interventions
can only be provisioned to students if the school has identified Goals
that would be reached by applying the
intervention. When documenting Interventions,
schools must identify which Goals will be addressed by the Intervention.
One Intervention
can address multiple Goals. Similarly,
one Goal can be addressed through
multiple Interventions.
NOTE:
Goals and Interventions
work together, but it's important to know where you can view or create
goals and interventions. See this table below:

About Interventions:
Once an Intervention is created,
it updates both the Concerns
and Supports tabs.
Interventions added before
9/18/2011 through the School
Profile > Interventions tab are moved to the Concerns tab if the Intervention
identified a Primary Concern.
|
To provision an Intervention,
first enter information about the Intervention,
then select the Goals that will
be achieved through this Intervention.
- Search
for the student.
- Select the Concerns
tab.
- Expand the Concern
(e.g., expand Reading or Math or another concern listed on
the tab).
- Highlight Interventions.
- The Actions
menu selections will change. Select New
Intervention.
- The Intervention
window is displayed.
- Complete information on the Intervention
tab.
- Use the drop-down menu to select
the Intervention/Instructional
Strategy.
- Enter the Start
Date in MMDDYY
format. (Tips
for entering dates.)
- NOTE
- End Date and Results: Leave these fields blank. Later
in the process, when an assessment can be made, you can return to
this window and enter information into these fields. End
Date must be within the current school year. Saving the Intervention
with these data in these fields will close the Intervention.
- Use the drop-down menu to select
the Tier.
- Use LiveSearch
(click on magnifying glass) to search for and select the Provider
Name.
- Enter descriptions for the Intervention
Descriptor and Intervention
Notes/Analysis.
- Enter the Intervention Details:
- Frequency
- Number of Sessions
- Projected End
- Group Size
- When you first create an Intervention
record, the Student Progress Charts
list box will be blank. At some point later, if you create a Progress Chart on the Student
Profile > Progress Charts tab that maps the progress of
this Intervention, the chart
title will be listed in this box. All Progress
Charts are available for viewing on the Progress
Chart tab. However, for your convenience, you will be able
to view the Progress Chart
for this intervention in this list box.
- Proceed to the Goals tab.
- Click Add Goal.
- The Select
SMART Goal modal window is displayed.
- Check the Goals
that will be achieved through this Intervention.
You can select multiple goals, if applicable.
NOTE: Goals should be created earlier in the process, before Interventions are provisioned. However,
If the school did not create Goals
at this point, or if the existing goals are not applicable, the Create New SMART Goal is available
for your convenience. Enter the appropriate information to create
a new goal.
- Click OK.
- You will be taken back to the Goals tab, where your
goals are now listed. By being listed here, these specific goals are
now tied to the Intervention.
- Click Save
then Close.
The Intervention
is now listed as a record under the concern.
