The Student Profile search is powered by LiveSearch. It is designed to find records faster than standard Web site searches. A LiveSearch-enabled screen has a grey LiveSearch box (shown below) indicating that you can do a real-time search if you know enough about the person you are searching for.
LiveSearch displays only active students. Only students who have an Active status in eSIS are displayed in the results of a LiveSearch. To search for inactive students, you have to do an Advanced Search and set the status to Inactive.
LiveSearch eliminates clicks. On a LiveSearch-enabled screen such as the Student Profile, you can start typing as soon as you get to the screen. No need to click on any fields or icons. If you need to repeat a search, click once anywhere on the grey LiveSearch box to display the search input field, then start typing.
LiveSearch is fast. Up to ten matching names are displayed in real time as you type. The more you type, the smaller the list of possible matches gets.
LiveSearch gives you options:
Search by last name or the first few characters of the last name.
Search by first name or the first few characters of the first name. When searching by the first name alone, the name is preceded by a comma (with or without a space). For example, ,Wilberforce will find a student whose first name is "Wilberforce" even if you don't know the student's last name.
Search by last name and first name. Enter a comma after any last name characters before starting to type the first name to search by both last name and first name. For example, you can type P, Mana to find a student named "Mana Pua."
Search by school code in addition to using all or part of the student's name. Separate the last name, first name, and school code by commas. For example, P, M,100 would find a student named "Mana Pua" if they were enrolled at Aina Haina Elementary. If you simply type ,,100 you will see an alphabetical list of the first ten students enrolled in Aina Haina Elementary.
Search by student number. If you start LiveSearch by typing a number, the search will bring up students by their student number as long as the number matches the search characters.
Select Advanced Search for more search options.
