Manage Gifted and Talented Information for Students

Use the Supports tab of the Student Profile to manage Gifted and Talented (GT) or Potentially Gifted and Talented (PGT) information for students. The Gifted and Talented Identification Details worksheet in eCSSS is where schools can collect criteria used for selection, course or program type information and parental decision about enrolling in the Gifted and Talented program.

To add a Gifted and Talented or Potentially Gifted and Talented worksheet for a student, do the following:

 

  1. Search for a student
  2. Select the Supports tab.
  3. Highlight Programs. The Actions menu will change.
  4. From the Actions menu, select New Program.
  5. From the Select Program modal window select Gifted and Talented or Potentially Gifted and Talented.  These options will display only if Gifted and Talented Program Area(s) have been defined in the School Profile.
  6. Click OK.  The Gifted and Talented Identification Details screen displays the Select Program Area of Giftedness modal.
  7. From the Select Program Area of Giftedness modal select a Program Area.  Only program areas defined in the Gifted and Talented tab of the School Profile are displayed.
  8. Enter a Parent Decision::
    1. If the Parent Decision is "Parent Declined Gifted and Talented Services" a Decline Date and Reason for Decline must be entered.
    2. If the Parent Decision is "Provide Gifted and Talented Services" a Start Date must be entered.
  9. The Identification Details tab is where schools record parental decisions, course/program type and the criteria used for selection.
    1. Enter Projected Minutes per Week of Contact.
    2. Select a Teacher Completing Worksheet by clicking the Import button and selecting a user from the User drop down list.
    3. For Program Description, click Add. The Program Description modal window is displayed. Check the selections that apply. For some selections, you can check Other and type in a new item. By default, certain descriptions are pre-checked with information from the Gifted and Talented Program Setup screen on the School Profile.
    4. Check one or more Course/Program Types.  By default certain courses or programs are pre-checked with information from the Gifted and Talented Program Setup screen on the School Profile.

    5. Criteria Used for Selection may be added if appropriate for the student.  By default certain criteria are listed with information from the Gifted and Talented Program screen on the School profile.

      NOTE: If you highlight
      Achievement, Ability or Rating Scales above, a list of instruments used in the highlighted criteria will be displayed in the Criteria Details (Name of Instrument) list box, which is to the right of the Criteria Used for Selection box. Lists of instruments do not displayed for other selected criteria.
       

  10. When the school has completed Gifted and Talented services for a student, the school records the information on the End of Service tab. Enter the following information:
  11. Click Save then Close. The worksheet is now listed on the Supports tab under Program.
